If you love domesticated rats as much as we do and would like to donate some of your time to Tiny Toes Rat Rescue of New Mexico, then we would love to meet you!
We at Tiny Toes are always busy either tending to the many needs of the rats or handling the administrative demands of the rescue. Volunteers are MUCH needed to help us with the work we need to have done daily, but don’t have enough time to do by ourselves.
While we surely do appreciate volunteers, we need to be able to depend on them to arrive when they say they will. You see, when we schedule a volunteer for a specific time period we plan our own schedules around that time period and even the very tasks that we have assigned to the volunteer and anticipate having completed. So, if a volunteer doesn’t come as scheduled, we know from experience that it can have a bad snowball effect.
Volunteering comes with commitment and responsibility. That being said, if you are interested in volunteering, even for just a few hours each week and can keep a commitment to do so, the first step is to complete our Volunteer Application and Volunteer Liability Waiver forms. These forms are in Adobe format so you can easily complete them on your computer and email them back to us at tinytoesrats@aol.com OR send them to Tiny Toes Rat Rescue of New Mexico at Post Office Box 67571, Albuquerque, NM 87193. For the Volunteer Application form click the solid black helping hands above and for the Volunteer Liability Waiver form click the turquoise and black helping hands above.
The types of functions we need volunteers to perform may include:
- Cage cleaning - Bathing rats as needed
- Food preparation - Clerical duties
- Giving medications - Making phone calls
- Assisting with/caring for sick/elderly rats - Computer work
- Holding rats and giving them affection - Help at events
Thank you!
