Donating

Tiny Toes Rat Rescue of New Mexico depends on community support from people like you to keep the rescue going. Every penny of donation money we receive goes directly into the Tiny Toes Rat Rescue fund. It is this fund that pays for veterinary care and medication, food, cage supplies like fleece and litter, cleaning supplies like laundry detergent and bleach wipes, and office supplies like paper and toner cartridges. What does the fund not pay for? It never has and never will pay any type of compensation to those of us who run the rescue. We consider ourselves volunteers and have never even sought reimbursement for gas when driving our vehicles on rescue business. We hope that you will help support our work on behalf of innocent needy animals. We cannot do what we do without your help.

Checks/money orders payable to Tiny Toes Rat Rescue may be mailed to us at Post Office Box 67571, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87193. Donations may also be made by clicking on the mouse over to the right.

If you decide to become a donor, please note that you may very well work for a company that will match charitable donations made by their employees to 501(c)(3) organizations like us. We hope that you will explore this opportunity so that your donation dollars can be stretched. Thank you very much.

our needs change

Tiny Toes Rat Rescue of New Mexico has a lot of wishes. Our heart's wish, of course, is that all rats would have a safe and loving home, but sadly that is not the case. Here at Tiny Toes Rat Rescue we do our best to make the lives of rescued rats wonderful, but that comes with much expense. If you would like to donate items to help us do that we always have a continuous need for many things. Here is a list of our current wishes

as of January 2016:

  • Gift Cards for Walmart, Costco, Smiths (a Kroger store) - we shop at these stores many times a week to purchase supplemental food items necessary to properly care for our rats:

    • Our rats who have had their incisors (front teeth) extracted require a permanent soft diet so we feed soft and mashed foods like fresh and canned fruits and veggies, baby cereals, etc.

    • Malnourished rats who come to us require the twice daily supplemental nourishment of Gerber oatmeal baby cereal and water.  It becomes expensive when you go through as much as we do.

    • All rats need daily supplemental foods like raw fruits and veggies to be healthy so we go through a lot of them. Here are examples of typical daily meals at Tiny Toes: Monday - grapes and boiled potatoes, Tuesday - kale, Wednesday - apples and rice, Thursday - spinach and bananas, Friday - almonds and power greens, Saturday - peas and rice, Sunday - pasta and garlic bread.

  • Unscented Bleach Wipes or Baby Wipes and Paper Towels - used to clean cages and accessories.

  • Toys for the rats - they get bored easy so toys help.

  • New or used fleece blankets and throws - we use them in cages instead of bedding material.
